Exodus Continues

Korean Evangelical Fellowship (KEF) left from CCK. KEF made the decision public to media on 29 September 2012.

CCK, Christian Council of Korea, was criticized for its affirmative action to David Jang.

"Exodus" of major member churches from CCK is continuing since March 2012.

CCK is now in critical moment that its position as a representing body of Evangelicals in Korea may be lost.

David Jang Answers To Question Himself

The Question.

However, he denied his responsibility to existence of apprentices who confessed David Jang as Second Coming Christ.

LifeWay Says "No" To Olivet After Listening To NAE Report

LifeWay, a publication company of Southern Baptist Convention, has been in discussion to sell its campsite property, Glorieta Conference Center in New Mexico, to Olivet University, the education wing of David Jang.

The discussion was suspended when Christianity Today, a major monthly magazine of Evangelicals, published long and detailed investigative report on David Jang's Second Coming Christ Question in this August.

The Newest Investigative Report from USA
Second Coming Christ Question Following

Then, LifeWay, in consent with Olivet, invited NAE, National Association of Evangelicals, to work as an independent panel to investigate theological compatibility between LifeWay and Olivet.

This October, NAE panel concluded the investigation and handed closed report to Lifeway.

After reading of the report, Lifeway published following statement.

“LifeWay Christian Resources has reviewed the report from the National Association of Evangelicals, and decided not to go forward with the sale of Glorieta Conference Center to Olivet University.”

LifeWay, NAE, and Olivet did not disclose the content of the report.

Following is full quotation from Tennessean, 16 October 2012.

-- begin quote --

A controversial deal to sell a financially troubled Southern Baptist camp in New Mexico to a Christian college in California has fallen through over concerns about theology.

Earlier this year Nashville-based LifeWay Christian Resources announced plans to sell the Glorieta Conference Center in Glorieta, N.M. to Olivet University.

The camp had lost money in 24 of the past 25 years and isn’t considered viable financially.

In order to complete the deal, Olivet had to show that their theology was compatible with Southern Baptist-owned LifeWay. The school was founded by and maintains ties to the Rev. David Jang, who has been accused of heresy in the past by churches in East Asia.

The two groups asked the National Association of Evangelicals to run the investigation and report back. LifeWay got the report at the end of last week, said spokesman Marty King.

King would not discuss details of the report but sent a statement saying the deal was off.

“LifeWay Christian Resources has reviewed the report from the National Association of Evangelicals, and decided not to go forward with the sale of Glorieta Conference Center to Olivet University,” the statement said. “We are appreciative of our relationship with Olivet's leadership, and indebted to NAE for their thorough work. We will now renew our pursuit of viable options for the sale of the property.”

William Wagner, the president of Olivet and chairman of the Christian Post's board, has consistently denied any claims that Jang teaches false theology. He pointed out that Jang had been cleared during several past heresy trials.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Wagner held out hope that a deal could be reached.

“Olivet University leadership has been made aware that Lifeway Christian Resources plans not to proceed with the transfer of the Glorieta Conference Center,” wrote Wagner, a former Baptist missionary who ran for president of the Southern Baptist Convention in 2008. “Olivet intends to further discuss the decision of LifeWay Christian Resources’ leadership in moving forward and continuing negotiations in hopes an agreement can be reached regarding the purchase of the Glorieta Conference Center in Glorieta, N.M.”

The main concern over the sale to Olivet was the so-called Second Advent Christ controversy.

Traditional Christian teaching holds that Jesus will return from heaven in the future and set up the millennial kingdom, a 1,000-year reign of peace.

Jang's critics say his followers believe that someday he will be transformed into a new version of Jesus, a claim he says he has never made.

"In a nutshell, the group teaches that the Second Advent Christ is a mere human being made into Christ by other human beings," Edmond Chua an Olivet graduate and former editor of the Singapore edition of the Christian of Singapore, told the Tennessean earlier this year.

The Christian Post is an online publication whose leaders have ties to Olivet. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, is the executive editor of the U.S. version of the Christian Post.

Similar accusations were published in a story about Jang that appeared in the evangelical magazine Christianity Today.

Stories published in the Christian Post have disputed those claims.

And Christianity Today, which is different from David Jang's Christiantoday, announced that they are preparing third report on David Jang's Second Coming Christ Question.

The Most Recent Actions Against David Jang

The Communion of Churches in Korea (韓国教会連合, CCIK) held Orthodox Faith Defense Committee on 8 September 2012 and resolved to define David Jang as a Second Coming Christ heresy.

Report of the CCIK Orthodox Faith Defense Committee

Also the committee resolved recommendation that WEA (World Evangelical Alliance) should terminate relationship with David Jang, or in a case WEA declines to do so, then Korean Churches should stop supporting WEA General Assembly, which is planned to be held in 2014.

The resolution of the committee will be finally endorsed at CCIK General Assembly in this December.

Korean Presbyterian Churches HapSin(大韓耶蘇教長老会合神), the second largest denomination in the country, held The 62nd General Assembly on 20 September 2012 and resolved to terminate all relationships with David Jang and his affiliate organizations, who has been in question of Moonies and Second Coming Christ heresy.

Korean Presbyterian Churches TongHap(大韓耶蘇教長老会統合), the largest denomination in the country, held The 97th General Assembly from 17 to 21 September 2012 and resolved official withdrawal from CCK and endorsed official affiliation with CCIK.

Also the General Assembly of TongHap resolved to define Rev. Hong Jae-Cheol(洪在哲), CEO of CCK(韓国基督教総連合会), as an advocate of heresies.

As it was already reported, in the beginning of this year, 20 denominations out of CCK molded new organization CCIK with a view to renovate CCK, which has been plagued by corruption and infighting.

In response, CCK expelled the denominations and pastors who joined CCIK.

Present moment, there are 26 member denominations and 11 member organizations in CCIK.

Number of member churches are as below.

Christian Council of Korea (CCK) is consisted with 24,392 churches.
The Communion of Churches in Korea (CCIK) is consisted with 31,225 churches.

CCIK has strong concern for possible abuse of fund and function of WEA in helping the David Jang’s heresy.

Second Coming Christ Question Following

Christianity Today, a major monthly magazine of Evangelicals in USA, posted second article on David Jang's Second Coming Christ Question after it's first investigative report.

The Second Coming Christ Controversy: More Leaders Speak Out

In it, Edmond and Susan Chua, who'd been members of David Jang's "Community" and was publisher of The Christian Post Singapore Edition, courageously came out and testified that "I believe David Jang as Second Coming Christ" and prayed to Jang as "God".

David Jang side is now threatening Chuas and to bring the couple to lawsuite.

Pray for Chuas that they may be protected from all the attacks of Jang the False Christ.

Non Parousia Postmillennialism?

Recently, Christianpost in Singapore explained about David Jang's theological thinking in year around 2006, which is namely an "Non Parousia Postmillenialism".

Specific of this theological thinking is of viewing Second Coming of Christ as a mere symbolical metaphor, not a literal supernatural phenomenon.

However, in year around 2005, EAPC (Evangelical Assembly of Presbyterian Churches), which is David Jang's church body, held "Statement of Faith" that was as follows.

1.We believe that the Bible, consisting of Old and New Testaments only, is verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, is inerrant in the original manuscripts, and is the infallible and authoritative words from the Lord.
2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
3. We believe that Adam, created in the image of God, was tempted by Satan, the devil, and fell. Because of Adam's sin, all men have guilt imputed.
4. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
5. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
6. We believe that salvation consists in the remission of sins, the imputation of Christ's righteousness, and the gift of eternal life received by faith alone, apart from works.
7. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
8. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
9. We believe that the Church, the body of Christ, consists only of those who are born again, who are baptized by the Holy Spirit into Christ at the time of regeneration, for whom He now makes intercession in heaven and for whom He will come again
10. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
11. We believe that Christ instructed the Church to go into the entire world and preach the gospel to every person, baptizing and teaching those who believe.
12. We believe that the return of Jesus Christ is imminent, and that it will be visible and personal.

It must be underlined that the article number twelfth confessed that "the return of Jesus Christ is imminent, and that it will be visible and personal".

No harmony with the symbolic, metaphorical view of Second Coming.

However, this article had harmony with a content of "k-note" which was taught in year around 2002-2005 at EAPC Tokyo Sophia Church. That said that "In year 2000, New Christ has already appeared", "We must find him". Exactly the imminent, visible, personal return of "New Christ" on their context.

But, now we see largely rewritten and shortened "Statement of Faith" at EAPC website.

If David Jang would have held "Non Parousia Postmillenialism" in 2006, then how could it be explained the fact that his own denomination believed imminent, visible, personal return of Christ at least by year 2005?

Change of the world view from that to this, this to that, again that to this is theologically huge big task. So there might have been long and complicated and heavy discussion at General Assembly of the EAPC. There must be the record of the resolution that made the change. Moderator and Stated Clerk must have knowledge and ability to explain about the change.

Did you know?

You may not know. But in the past, Christianpost was Christiantoday.

As Christiantoday in Korea admitted herself, that David Jang was the founder of Christiantoday.

However, in USA, there was already a newspaper titles "Christiantoday", which is a Korean language Christian newspaper for Korean citizens in USA.

When David Jang's apprentice, Albert Lee started their Christantoday in USA, many Korean citizens were confused. So "Christiantoday" objected to Christiantoday of David Jang.

At first, Christiantoday of David Jang rejected the objection. People called the argument "Christiantoday vs Christiantoday".

But finally, David Jang's side agreed to change the title of their paper.

So in Korea, Christiantoday was changed to Christiontoday.

And in USA, Christiantoday English version was changed to Christianpost.

Then in USA, Chrisitantoday Korean version was changed to Christianitydaily.

But still some people are confused with those similar names.

The biggest difference is that "Christiantoday US" - None David Jang side - is the newspaper strongly stands against false Christ. She still puts testimony of ex-member of Davidian on top page of its online version.

One who is interested in this story should contact to "Christiantoday US". One will know the difference.

Is Eighty Percent Right?

Recently, WEA stated about CCK(Christian Council of Korea) on her web site that CCK is representing 80 percent of denominations in Korea.

However, when we see number of churches in membership, we will find largely different view.

As it was already reported, 20 denominations out of the CCK molded new organization CCIK(The Communion of Churches in Korea) with a view to renovate the CCK, which has been plagued by corruption and infighting. In response, CCK expelled the denominations and pastors who joined the CCIK.

The Communion of Churches in Korea is consisted with 31,225 churches.

The Communion of Churches in Korea has strong concern for possible abuse of fund and function of WEA in helping the David Jang’s Heresy.

So, then an expression "Eighty Percent" must be adjusted.

David Jang's Olivet To Go To New Mexico

Olivet University, a David Jang's education wing, is now moving to acquire Baptist's property in New Mexico as their possible new campus.

Associated Baptist Press reported as follows;

--- begin quotation ---

Possible Glorieta sale back on the table

The Southern Baptist Convention publisher announced July 12 it is considering possible sale of the 2,100-acre campus opened by Southern Baptists in 1952 near Santa Fe to Olivet University International.

Olivet – not to be confused with Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. – is led by President Bill Wagner, a former longtime Southern Baptist foreign missionary and seminary professor. Launched in 2000 by the Evangelical Assembly of Presbyterian Churches, Olivet University International has been twice turned down in bids to buy a permanent campus when questions arose about its finances, methodology and theology.

The Tennessean ran a 1,700-word story July 16 detailing Olivet’s previous failures to close deals to obtain Bethany University, a closed Assemblies of God school in Scotts Valley, Calif., and a 217-acre campus in Northfield, Mass., founded by famed evangelist D.L. Moody being offered for free to a deserving Christian ministry by the billionaire owners of Hobby Lobby.

According to the Tennessean, one factor dogging Olivet is controversy about David Jang, who served as chancellor and professor of systematic theology until transitioning in May to the Holy Bible Society, an international Christian organization founded in 2007 for the purpose of making the Bible more accessible by using digital technology and the Internet.

The Internet carries contradictory versions about Jang’s former ties to Sun Myung Moon’s Unification Church and whether some of Jang’s followers have taught that he is the second coming of Jesus.

Where WEA has gone?

Recently it was informed that WEA has left "74 Trinity Place" in New York City. That was over three months ago.

"74 Trinity Place" is an office property owned by Trinity Church, New York's historically important Epscopal Church. Tenant list below is confirming that WEA is no longer staying there.

However, WEA is still showing their address as "74 Trinity Place" as following.

It is really difficult to understand why WEA is giving misinformation continuously over past three months.

It is concerned that after David Jang became a member of WEA North American Council, apprentices of David Jang took over WEA's staff positions of administration, press and IT.

David Jang is questioned for his Second Coming Christ heresy.

Olivet left, then failed

Olivet University, a David Jang's education oragnization, had failed to close escrow for purchasing Bethany University campus in Scotts Valley, Santa Cruz, California. Then the campus was leased to Olivet for some months.

However, on Wednesday 30 May 2012, the lease was ended and Olivet left the Bethany campus. Some students went back to original Olivet campus in down town San Francisco. Some another students moved to New Mexico to find out suitable location for their campus site.

News source: Santa Cruz Sentinel

Olivet University had announced before about their hope to acquire Northfield campus which was formerly owned by Northfield Mount Hermon School, Massachsetts, a foundation of Dwight Lyman Moody. It was said that the Olivet was included in possible candidates list who will recevie the 217-acre property free of charge.

However, on Monday 4 June 2012, property owner's spokesperson announced that finalists to receive the Northfield campus are the Southern Baptist Convention’s North American Mission Board and Grand Canyon University Foundation of Phoenix. In July, a final decision about who gets the campus will be made.

This memans that Davidian's Olivet University failed to acquire the Northfied.

Secret Doctrine of EAPC

Following is an excerpt from "K notes" handwritten by Mr.K.
He was taught Davidian's Bible Lessons from 2002 to 2005 by one-to-one, day-to-day settings for almost everyday.
Bible Lectureres were Ann Martha, Kohe Park, some others and even David Jang himself.

It is an amazement that some note were headed by the phrase, "by The Reverend Saint David Jang".
To call living particular one person as "Saint" is a quite unusual manner in both Catholic and Protestant tradition.

K was "evangelized" by Davidian Missionary in 2002, and traveled to Korea several times, even he applied to Olivet University, he became a committed member of the Davidian Community.
On September 28 2004, he was ordained as EAPC Pastor by David Jang, the Evangelical Assembly of Presbyterian Churches.
He worked in variouis sections of the Davidian Community, those were EAPC Tokyo Sophia Church, Chiba Church, Christiantoday, Verecom and IB Times.
For the IB Times, an online journal of Economy and Business, K became an initial Executive Officer to launch the company in 2006.

Following is sourced in "Report of Findings of David Jang's Question" Section 7-1-e, which was presented to and resolved at 94th General Assembly of Presbyterian Churches HapShin(大韓イエス教長老会合神)in September 2009. Based on the resolution, PCK HapShin issued statement of caution to David Jang and terminated all the relationship with Davidian organizations.

Excerpts from "K notes"

Lesson Title; "Time and Date"(時と時期)

In year AD2000, New Christ is already appeared.

Lesson Title; "Family Tree of Christ"(キリストの系図)

Jesus failed to accomplish Daniel's Prophecy of "1335 days".
42 years of mission was not attained by Jesus.

Davidian failed to acquire Bethany Campus

The Northern California-Nevada District of the Assemblies of God stated on the most recent situation of Bethany Campus that has been in process to be sold to Olivet University, but now the process failed.

STATEMENT

Bethany University Chairman of the Board, Reverend James Braddy, has announced that the sale of the Bethany Campus in Scotts Valley to Olivet University failed to close escrow on April 17, 2012. Therefore the sales agreement is no longer in force and the campus is back on the market. Reverend Braddy stated that the original agreement called for escrow to close on November 30, 2011. Olivet University had requested three extensions. In each case, Olivet was unable to perform according to the mutually agreed upon contract. Negotiations for a fourth extension did not prove acceptable to either Olivet or Bethany. The last agreed upon extension ended at 5:00 p.m. April 17, 2012, with Olivet University unable to meet the mutually accepted terms of sale.

Bethany has offered to lease the campus to Olivet University until the close of the school year. Bethany will aggressively be marketing the campus with a hoped for sale by the end of summer. The Board of Trustees regrets the failure to successfully negotiate the sale to Olivet University as it hoped this would have kept a viable Christian College in Scotts Valley.

Olivet University is a David Jang's education organization, which he founded as OTCS in 1992.

1992 - The Year Everything Started

Below is David Jang's resume which he presented to CCK, Christian Council of Korea, attached to CCK membership application.

Later it was found that the resume totally covered up David Jang's past history in Unification Church, the Moonies.

The resume says;

1979. 2. B.Th. Hanshin University, Department of Theology
1983. 8. M.A. Yonsei University, Graduate School of Public Administration
1990. 2. M.Div. Hanshin University, Graduate School of Theology
1992. 2. Ph.D. (Doctor of Public Administration) Dankook University
1992.10. Ordained by Hang Dong Presbytery, General Assembly of Presbyterian Churches in Korea
1998. 2. Director of International Department, General Assembly of Presbyterian Churches in Korea
1999. 5. Moderator of Hang Dong Presbytery, General Assembly of Presbyterian Churches in Korea
2000. 1. Professor, Southern Cross College, Australia
2002. 4. Senior Pastor, Socho First Church, Seoul
2002. 9. Doctorate Course, Fuller Theological Seminary, School of Theology

The above resume showed "clean" history of an orthodox presbyterian minister.

However, the truth was that David Jang had been a member of Moonies since 1967. Then his walk as executive member of the heresy all went through by 1998 as follows;

1971 Planted Moonies Unit
1972 Leader of Moonies Studtent Unit (CARP)
1975 Participated in Mass Marriage Ceremony by Sun Myung Moon
1982 Chief Secretary of ICSA
(International Christian Students Association, Moonie's dummy)
1985 Staff of Sun Moon University Preparation Committee
1986 Development Officer of Sung Hwa Seminary
(Sung Hwa Seminary was handed to Moonies by the conspiracy)
1989 Dean of Student Affairs of Sung Hwa Seminary
1991 Sung Hwa Seminary was upgraded to Sung Hwa University
1992 Lecturer of Unification Theology at Sung Hwa University
1993 Sung Hwa University was renamed to Sun Moon University
1998 Resigned from Sun Moon University

When we make comparison between "clean" history and "covered" history, our focus will be directed upon the year 1992.

1992, David Jang was teaching Unification Theology, which is Moonie's apologetics, at Sung Hwa/Sun Moon University. In that very year, he was ordained as a Presbyterian minister.

How on earth could it be possible for a Presbytery to ordaine active Moonie leader as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

More mysterious thing is this. David Jang's organizations, Apostolos Campus Ministry, EAPC, Olivet University were all founded in the year 1992.

David Jang was ordained as a minister in 1992. Within that one year, he started Apostolos Campus Ministry ,EAPC and Olivet. Actually, he was ordained in October of that year, so there might had been remaining two months for the "Christian" activist to creat new things.

More amazement was followed. In 2004, his "covered" history was exposed in Korea. The Presbytery which ordained David Jang was seriously questioned by public. Responding to the question, David Jang adjusted his ordination year from 1992 to 1996, then to 1997.

He explained that he had forgotten the accurate date of his own ordination. Hokuto Ide, Davidian Defendant, once said to Major Mak that he should simply believe David Jang's explanation as such. Hokuto Ide believes it, but Major can't.

Where did they come from?

EAPC, Evangelical Assembly of Presbyterian Churches, did work hard to erase all the past memories for some reason.

Crawling bot had collected such a page from EAPC web site in 2004. It is not existing in the archive now.

However, it was as this;

The EAPC was formed in October of 1992, during a conference attended by pastors of Presbyterian chuches from New York and California. At this historic conference hosted in Los Angeles, the EAPC was created to increase interaction among churches as a greater voice of the Gospel worldwide.
(web.archive.org/web/20041231023944/http://ea-pc.org/)

In 2006, Major Mak realized above description of origin of EAPC in the denomination's web site. It explained that a historical conference of Presbyterians gave birth to the EAPC.

So he sent letters of enquiry to major Presybyterian denominations in USA, such as PCUSA, PCA, OPC and CPC.

And responces were as follows;

Response from PCUSA, Presbyterian Church in USA

Response from Presbyterian Church in America

Response from Orthodox Presbyterian Church

Response from Cumberland Presbyterian Church

No Presbyterians in America know "Evangelical Assembly of Presbyterian Churches". This is an extraordinary strange phenomenon.

Then, where did they come from?

However, Hokuto Ide, a David Jang's mouthpeace, set back the foundation date to 1984.

Of course, the original EAPC web site referred the date as 1992.

So there are three contradicting dates, 1984, 1992, 2004, all relating to their "identity".

It is a very strange identity.

How a Methodist Seminary was converted to Sun Moon University?

In 1980’s, Korean Government announced a new policy that all unregistered seminaries must be closed down. However, each denominations will be allowed to register one seminary by one denomination basis.

For this reason, Korean Jesus Methodist Church (Jesus Methodist) prepared a land and trust fund to build “Sun Hwa Seminary”(聖化神学校)to be registered under the policy.

However, Jesus Methodist(耶蘇教監理会) failed to raise enough fund for the building. In a case they abandon the plan, trust fund (120 million won) should be handed to the Government.

In that severe moment, Pastor Choi Jin-bak of Mok-Min Methodist Church introduced Mr. Seo Jin-suk, President of Borim Industry Co. Ltd. Mr. Seo Jin-suk proposed to Jesus Methodist that he will pay all building cost.

Jesus Methodist accepted the proposal and David Jang, Executive Officer of Borim Industry, started construction of the Sung Hwa Seminary.

Then, Mr. Seo Jin-suk interrupted the construction and threated Jesus Methodist to pay him all construction cost unless he will accuse the Church.

Jesus Methodist did not have enough money for the payment to Mr. Seo Jin-suk. However, Mr. Seo Jin-suk presented another proposal that if Jesus Methodist sell the land and legal person of Sung Hwa Seminary altogether to him, he will pay 240 million won to the Church.

Finally, the Government erased the registration of Sung Hwa Seminary on 12 January 1985. So Jesus Methodist accepted the proposal and handed the chair of Board of Directors of Sun Hwa Seminary to Mr. Seo Jin-suk on 4 June 1985. Then the Church handed the land to Mr. Seo Jin-suk on 20 July 1985. On return, Mr. Seo Jin-suk payed 240 million won to Jesus Methodist.

However, Jesus Methodist was deadly shocked that daily newspaper advertised an opening of Sun Hwa Seminary in March 1986. The Church sent letter of inquiry to the Government. The Government replied that the registration of the Seminary was once erased in 12 January 1985, however, renewed application was presented to the Government with report of completion of the building on 25 February 1985. So the Government checked the building and then gave official admission of opening Seminary on 27 December 1985. Jesus Methodist did not made such application to the Government. The Church also came to find that Rev. Choi Jin-bak was disappeared, Mr. Seo Jin-suk became Principal of Sung Hwa Seminary, and David Jang became Administrator of the Seminary. In 1988, Jesus Methodist found that book of minutes of Board of Directors of Sung Hwa Seminary was stolen.

Thus, Sung Hwa Seminary became a wing of Unification Church. Later, the Seminary was amalgamated with Unification Seminary and upgraded to Sung Hwa University, which is present “Sun Moon University”(鮮文大学) in Korea. David Jang became professor of Sung Hwa/Sun Moon University, giving lecture on Unification Theology(統一神学), which is Systematic Theology of Unification Doctrine(統一原理).

In 18 December 1989, Jesus Methodist issued Letter of Apology to Korean Christian Leaders, giving explanation how the Sung Hwa Seminary was handed to Unification Church.

In conclusive part of the Letter of Apology, Jesus Methodist summed up that this tragedy was made by conspiracy of David Jang, together with Choi Jin-bak and Seo Jin-suk, who was core member of Unification Church Leadership.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Letter of Apology of Jesus Methodist was issued by Bishop Park Woo-sung and Former Principal Shin Shin-mook on December 18 1989, which was widely circulated among Churches in Korea.

However, everyone lost the memory of the letter until now.

Statement by Rev. Dr. Thomas Wong

A Statement on Young Disciples of Jesus, Gospel Herald and the Community

I first knew the young people from Young Disciples of Jesus and Gospel Herald over 3 years ago. On the surface, they appeared to be a group of young people very eager to serve the Lord with Zeal.

However, as I had more interaction with them, I found that they have withheld a lot of their background from me. It is now very clear that the 2 organizations are only a small part of a much bigger Community, including campus ministry, newspaper, music, design and IT. In all, there are more than 20 organizations; and they are all related to David Jang.

Furthermore, separate investigations in Hong Kong and China had documented overwhelming evidence that the Community is involved in teachings which are similar to the teachings of the Unification Church and are against the evangelical faith. I am very much concerned about the deceptive nature of the Community and the fact that many evangelical leaders today are still unaware of the true picture. I am in agreement with the findings of the Independent Enquiry Committee of Hong Kong. (http://enquirycommittee-ghi.org/)

I am happy to see that the Korean Christian communities are looking into this matter and conducting their own investigation. May God grant them wisdom, and discernment as they conduct their investigation.

Rev. Dr. Thomas Wong

It is regretting that none in America had had sincere listening ears to Rev. Dr. Thomas Wang's caution.

Sometimes I think it is too late to realize the seriousness of the ongoing situation.

ACM is renamed as AM

ACM, Apostolos Campus Ministry, a David Jang's campus evangelism wing, is now renamed as "AM", that is "Apostolos Missions".

AM's facebook page is here;
www.facebook.com/apostolosmissions

AM's web site is here;
amintl.org/

Korean Christiantoday once stated the fact that the ACM was founded by David Jang;
www.christiantoday.co.kr/view.htm?id=251013

Above quote describes David Jang as a founder of Young Disciples of Jesus, Apostolos Campus Ministry, Christiantoday and Olivet University.

Then, WHEN did he found the campus mission?

Back and see the AM's facebook timeline. It states that the group was founded on October 30 1992;
www.facebook.com/apostolosmissions

October 30 1992, AM, Aposolos Missions, former ACM, was founded by David Jang.

At that time, David Jang taught Unification Theology as a professor at Sun Moon University, which is education wing of Unification Church, the Moonies.

Above is from Sun Moon Student Handbook at the time, which showed David Jang as Unification Theology Lecturer.

It should be NOTED that founding date of Olivet University is the very same 1992. David Jang is known as Founder, First President and now Chacellor of Olivet University.

This fact is recorded on members directory of ABHE, Association for Bibilical Higher Education;
www.abhe.org/pages/NAV-Directory.html

Olivet was founded in 1992.

AM and Olivet are sharing same roots in David Jang. So it is quite natural for Olivet to provide Spiritural Formation Programs for her students in corporation with AM;
www.olivetuniversity.edu/current/spiritual.htm

These fact shows that David Jang started his campus mission and bible seminary during the days he was teaching Unification Theology, that is known as a heresy to us all Christians.

WEA to fund Davidian?

News media reports that Olivet University, a David Jang's education organization, is to obtain vast lands in California and Massachusetts to enlarge their campuses in this April.

There is strong anticipation how is it possible for Olivet to fund purchasing these huge properties?

Toward this question, Dr. Wagner, a spokesperson for David Jang, answered to the media that Christian Today and its family organizations will provide the fund.

Dr. Wagner also said that WEA, World Evangelical Alliance, where David Jang is a board member, will fund for the vast lands acquisition.

It is known that David Jang, who is former executive member of Moonies, has been admired as “Second Coming Christ” by his followers. This fact was evidenced in Seoul, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

In Korea, there is a long controversy over David Jang’s Heresy. CCK, Christian Council of Korea(韓国基督教総連合会), is known for her permissive stance to the heresy. However, most recently, 20 major denominations protested to and withdrew from the CCK.

These 20 denominations formed “The Communion of Churches in Korea”(CCIK)(韓国教会連合) in end of this March to persist their Anti-Davidian position. PCK TongHap(大韓耶蘇教長老会統合)and PCK HapShin(大韓耶蘇教長老会合神), whose membership is over one million, are involved in this new alliance.

The Communion of Churches in Korea has strong concern for possible abuse of the WEA fund helping the David Jang’s Heresy.

N.B.
Christian Council of Korea is consisted with 24,392 churches.
Communion of Churches in Korea is consisted with 31,225 churches.

Independent Enquiry Committee Report

Independent Enquiry Committee for the Gospel Herald Incident (《基督日報》事件獨立調查團, hereinafter “the Committee”) was established at the end of December 2007. Immediately after its establishment, the Committee carried out enquiry. Hearings were conducted by the Committee on 28 January 2008, 22 February 2008, 23 February 2008 and 14 March 2008 respectively. The following is a report on the Committee’s findings.

The Establishment and Reorganization of the Committee

Beginning from mid-November 2007, Christian churches, organizations and the mass media have paid close attention and doubts on the background, the stances in faith and the integrity of Gospel Herald, as well as the relationships between Gospel Herald, Young Disciples of Jesus (“YD”) and Dr. David J. Jang (張在亨牧師,又名張大衛).

As there was wide spread attention on the incident, the advisors of Gospel Herald, including Rev. Sek-wai Lo (羅錫為牧師), Rev. Enoch Lam (林以諾牧師) and Rev. Ting-yik Leung (梁廷益牧師), with the consent of Gospel Herald, appointed Mr. Daniel Or, a solicitor, to be the convener of an independent enquiry committee to be composed of widely recognized leaders within the Christian circle on 12 December 2007. That committee was commissioned to carry out enquiry on the incident with fair, open and just procedures in an effective manner. The objective of that committee was to investigate the backgrounds and the stances in faith of Gospel Herald, YD and Dr. David J. Jang, the relationships between the above three parties and their relationships with The Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity (“Unification Church”). Another objective was to find out whether Gospel Herald had improper acts in the handling of its list of advisors, issues related to the Special Issue for Franklin Graham Festival and issues related to fund raising. The Committee announced its establishment on 21 December 2007. Thereafter, it finalized its topics of enquiry and announced its scope of enquiry on 8 January 2008.

The Committee was an organization of self-initiatives formed upon the request and consent by Gospel Herald. Its procedures and rules of enquiry were formulated by itself after detailed discussions. Same as other enquiry committees, the Committee had to give, to the greatest possible extent with limited time and resources, each party involved in the incident sufficient opportunities to make statements and put forward their cases. The Committee also strived to make the fairest and just decisions to the extent that its abilities allow.

On 28 January 2008, the Committee conducted its first meeting. To avoid conflict of interests (please refer to the announcement by the Committee on 14 February 2008 in Christian Times for details), all the members who were current or past advisors of Gospel Herald and the associated organizations resigned in that meeting. Some of the resigned members agreed to continue their assistance to the Committee as observers. The list of members of the Committee included Rev. Carver Yu (余達心牧師), Rev. Jason H. K. Yeung (楊慶球牧師), Rev. Fai Luk (陸輝牧師), Rev. Man-chee Kwok (郭文池牧師), Dr. Ricky W. F. Szeto (司徒永富博士), Dr. Dennis K. K. Fan (范建強博士) and Mr. Daniel K. F. Or (柯廣輝律師). Observers included Rev. James M. O. Cheung (張慕皚牧師), Rev. Simon Y. P. Chan (陳如炳牧師), Rev. Ting-yik Leung (梁廷益牧師), Rev. Enoch Lam (林以諾牧師), Rev. Youngman Chan (陳恩明牧師) and Mr. Thomas F. H. Tsang, an ex-Magistrate (曾繁凱先生).

On 20 February 2008, in response to the request by Gospel Herald, the Committee added a new topic in its scope of enquiry, namely, “Whether there were individual(s) and/or organization(s) willfully defamed Gospel Herald and YD”.

Results of Findings

I. Issues Related to List of Advisors, the Special Issue for Franklin Graham Festival and Fund Raising

The Committee was commissioned to conduct enquiry to ascertain whether Gospel Herald had acted improperly in the handling of its list of advisors, issues related to the Special Issue for Franklin Graham Festival and issues related to fund raising. In relation to the above three issues, the unanimous conclusions reached by the Committee were as follow:

The Committee found that there was no evidence revealing that Gospel Herald had improper acts in the handling of its list of advisors;
The Committee found that there was no evidence revealing that Gospel Herald had fraudulent acts in the handling of issues relating to the Special Issue for Franklin Graham Festival, but improvements should be made on certain aspects; and
The Committee found that there was no evidence revealing that Gospel Herald had fraudulent acts in issues relating to fund raising, but improvements should be made on certain aspects.
Having considered that Gospel Herald was a profit-making business company, the Committee’s advice to Gospel Herald was, including but not limited to (1) When Gospel Herald appeals to the public for donations, it should express more clearly its identity as a business organization; and (2) When Gospel Herald undertakes projects, it should prudently and clearly distinguish whether their works are voluntary or commercial service in nature.

A detailed enquiry report of the above three issues will be delivered through the website of the Committee at www.enquirycommittee-ghi.org.

II. The Backgrounds and Faith of the Associated Organization(s) and/or Individual(s)

Another major topic which the Committee was commissioned to investigate was the partnership between Dr. David J. Jang, Gospel Herald and YD, and whether the above three parties have any direct or indirect relationship with Unification Church.

Background Information of Gospel Herald and YD

As revealed by the information provided by the websites of Olivet University, San Francisco, U.S. (“OU”) and Christian Post, Dr. David J. Jang was the founder and President of OU and its current Chancellor. In addition, the declaration of Gospel Herald posted on its website on 20 November 2007 quoted a report by Christian Today in Korea. That report mentioned that Dr. David J. Jang founded YD. However, in the letter issued to the Committee through their solicitors on 9 April 2008, Gospel Herald and YD denied that Dr. David J. Jang was the founder of YD.

According to the information provided by YD, YD alleged that some students of Shanghai Fudan University studied the Bible with missionaries from Evangelical Presbyterian Church. In 1999, some students started YD campus meetings in Shanghai Fudan University. In October 2002, YD sent missionaries to Hong Kong. YD was formally established in Hong Kong in June 2003, and maintained a close relationship with YD in Mainland China.

In addition, the list of members provided by YD’s person in charge in Hong Kong revealed that, until 28 March 2008, four major co-workers of Gospel Herald, including the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the current editor of its Hong Kong edition, the current editor of Crossmap (Crossmap HK is managed by Gospel Herald HK) and a reporter were YD members.

Processes and Findings of Enquiry

During the enquiry, the Committee considered the evidence from various parties, including but not limited to the evidence provided by Gospel Herald and YD. Due to the background of YD, the Committee found that it was necessary to carry out enquiry in Mainland China, and had made various contacts with several believers with knowledge of YD in different geographical areas (“Mainland Believers with Knowledge”) and a number of those believed to be ex-members of YD(Ex-YD Members).

The Committee considered all the evidence and listened to the statements of all witnesses. As a whole, the Committee had a lot of reservation on the consistency and authenticity of the evidence and statements provided by YD. As to the evidence provided by Mainland Believers with Knowledge and Ex-YD Members, the Committee found that they were consistent and authentic.

Regarding the backgrounds and faith of the associated organization(s) and/or individual(s), the Committee unanimously reached the following conclusions:

OU has expanded into 5 colleges in Theology, Music, Journalism, Art & Design and Information Technology, through which OU had developed strong ties with international ministries, including but not limited to YD and Gospel Herald. According to OU, YD’s “active participation” enhanced the rapid development of OU;
YD and OU were founded by David J. Jang, and shared with Gospel Herald his vision, and to a certain extent, common strategies, manpower, material resources and other resources; and
Dr. David J. Jang had close relationship with Unification Church in the past. However, there was no evidence revealing that Dr. David J. Jang still has a relationship with Unification Church.
The Committee considered and compared all evidence and statements, and carefully listened to the accounts on personal experiences by Mainland Believers with Knowledge and Ex-YD Members. Thereafter, the Committee contrasted the parties’ accounts on individuals involved in, the timing and sequences of the same relevant events. The Committee unanimously found that it was unable to exclude the following strong probabilities:

YD promoted doctrines similar to that of Unification Church, including (1) the first coming of Jesus to the Earth was a failure and (2) their pastor (Muksanim in Korean, in abbreviation, Msn ) is the “Second Coming Lord” or “Second Coming Christ” in Mainland China; and
YD developed rapidly in Mainland China and established bases in various major universities, and promoted the above doctrines in an organized, systematic and strategic manner. In addition, it has adopted an authoritative management style.
Because of the above reasons, the Committee unanimously expressed its serious apprehensions and concerns.

III. Other Issues

Regarding the new topic, namely “Whether there were individual(s) and/or organization(s) willfully defamed Gospel Herald and YD”, the Committee listened carefully to the statements and the case put forward by Gospel Herald and YD, and considered seriously the reasons and evidence submitted by Gospel Herald and YD. The Committee unanimously found that the relevant reasons and evidence were insufficient to substantiate such accusation.

All the observers accepted all the above results of enquiry.

Any information and contents not released in the above manners shall have no relationship to the Committee. Further, the Committee shall not be held liable for such information and contents.

The Committee would like to express its heartiest gratitude to all brothers and sisters who took the Gospel Herald incident into their hearts. If there is any enquiry with respect to the contents of this report, please contact Mr. Or through email at ghi-enquiry@procentre.hk.

1. Until all the suspicion about Christianity Daily is clearly dissolved, we will temporarily hold back support to Christianity Daily, and the Northern California Korean Churches Association will conduct it own investigation in the matter. This decision was made in consideration of the press conference held in Los Angeles on July 17th by Rev. Dr. Thomas Wang (王永信), a speaker at upcoming 2008 Northern California Mission Conference to be held from August 28th to 31st, where Dr. Wang made a statement about strong theological suspicion he has on Christianity Daily’s founder and where Dr. Wang sent a warning to other church leaders. Our decision was also based on the findings of the Independent Enquiry Committee of Hong Kong and the fact that the Heretical Inquiry Consultation Committee members of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) are currently conducting their own investigation in the matter.

2. Northern California Korean Churches Association (8 Associations) hereby affirms that we will proceed with our comprehensive research to protect the evangelical faith of all the member Associations, member churches and individual members within our organization; and to assist them in maintaining the righteous and sensible Christian life.

3. In addition, we would like to ask each church and members to accept those brothers and sisters with warmth if they truly repent and return to us from any suspicious organizations, and to assist those brethren to settle well within our established churches.

David Jang's Media Brought Five Media To Lawsuit

Christiantoday, a David Jang's media, brought five Korean-speaking medias to lawsuit.

Accused five medias are Deulsori Times, News N Joy, Monthly Modern Religion (月刊現代宗教), Australian Christian Review, and Christiantoday.US that is totally different from David Jang's one.

Since "Gospel Herald Incident" took place in Hong Kong, those five medias reported intensively the latest news about movement of Independent Enquiry Committee, which worked out on doubt that David Jang is adored as Second Coming Christ in "Young Disciples of Jesus" and other relating circles.

Christiantoday has already brought Major Makoto Yamaya, an Anti-Davidian Blogger, to Tokyo Local District Court. Also the media predicted to Christian Shimbun, a Japanese Christian media, to be brought to lawsuit.

David Jang, the central figure of the doubt, visited Seoul last month to meet with Heresy Committee of Christian Council of Korea. However, the meeting could not clear the doubt at all, according to the member of the Committee.

On 27 May, Beijing Haidian Church (北京市基督教海淀堂) announced that the Mega Church of Three Self Patriotic Church terminated all relationship with YD (Young Disciples of Jesus) after careful study on Report of Findings of IEC (Independent Enquiry Committee).

Young Disciples of Jesus (YD) was founded by Rev. David Jang in China and spread to the nation and all over the world, locating its HQ in San Francisco and publishing three Chinese Davidian Medias (基督日報, 基督時代, 福音時代). IEC revealed a heretical nature of YD, especially on its secret adoration to Rev. David Jang as Second Coming Christ, which is the Davidian Question.

CCK Heresy Committee Visited HK

Heresy Committee of CCK (Christian Council of Korea) visited Hong Kong from July 8 to 10 and interviewed to IEC (Independent Enquiry Committee), CGNER (Concern Group for Newly Emerged Religion) and Ex-members of YD (Young Disciples of Jesus).

Ex-Members of YD, a group which adores Rev. David Jang as Second Coming Christ, testified the Davidian Question and promised to send Notarized Document of Witness to CCK Heresy Committee.

Visiting Members of Heresy Committee handed a Certified Letter to IEC, which stated that Official Statement of CCK issued on 6 September 2005 did not/does not clear Rev. David Jang's involvement to Unification Church before 1997, and also the Statement did not/does not clear any Heresy Doubt on person of Rev. David Jang.

US Enquiry Committee To Be Formed

"Korean Journalists Association in North America" announced formation of Enquiry Committee on "Davidian Question". Christian Today US (Non-Davidian media) reported.

Formation of the US Enquiry Committee is a counter action to the most recent article posted on The Gospel Herald, a Chinese Davidian media, that stated that "Korean Pastors Association in California" cleared up the question when they listened to David Jang's personal confession of orthodox faith.

However, to interview to Korean Journalists, Representative of "Korean Pastors Association in California" told that the Association did not cleared the "Davidian Question" at all and the article posted by The Gospel Herald is contrary to the fact.

It is announced that the US Enquiry Committee will be consisted with seven members. Members of "Korean Journalists Association in North America" will not be enlisted to the Committee to avoid "Conflict of Interests", that follows the line of HK Independent Enquiry Committee.

United Church of Christ in Japan Terminated Relationship with Davidian

On 13 June, Rev. Nobuhisa Yamakita, Chair of General Assembly of "United Church of Christ in Japan" (Nihon Kirisuto Kyodan), the biggest denomination in the nation, issued an Official Statement to announce termination of its relationship with Christiantoday, a Davidian online news media.

The Statement shows the denomination's determined stance to finish any relationship with the media unless "Davidian Question" is cleared. The Statement also refers to on-going Court Trial of "Christiantoday vs Major Mak".

In Japan, since October 2006, Major Mak presented the "Davidian Question" based on evidences that Rev. David Jang might be adored as "Second Coming Christ" within Davidian Circle, a Community which is consisted with EAPC, ACM, YD, Christianpost, Christiantoday, Gospel Herald, Verecom, Olivet University and many other relating organizations.

The "Davidian Question" was also raised in Hong Kong, which is quickly followed by formation of "Independent Enquiry Committee" to clear the doubt. However, the Committee made public Report of Findings on 10 April, announced that high probabilities of Davidian's heretical nature is not excluded.

The Christiantoday brought Major Mak to lawsuit at Tokyo Local District Court, claiming compensation of 2.1 million Japanese yen.

An Open Response from Major Mak to YD

Dear Sir,

Re: An Open Response from Major Makoto Yamaya to Young Disciples of Jesus in Hong Kong

This is a response from Major Makoto Yamaya of The Salvation Army in Japan to Young Disciples of Jesus in Hong Kong.

The said Major Makoto Yamaya would like to show deep disappointment and concern toward the Statement which the Young Disciples of Jesus in Hong Kong made public at Press Conference which was held at Room no. 203, Duke of Windsor Social Service Building, 15 Henessy Road, Hong Kong, on date of 30 May 2008.

In regarding a part of the Statement which is specifically relating to the name and the person of the said Major Makoto Yamaya, it must be admitted that the content and expression of the part is wholly contrary to the truth.

Because of the obvious discrediting intention which is found in the Statement, the said Major Makoto Yamaya here requires the Young Disciples of Jesus in Hong Kong to make Public Apology and to correct the relating part in the Statement urgently.

In a case the Young Disciples of Jesus in Hong Kong denies or declines the presentation of the Public Apology, the said Major Makoto Yamaya will move forward a plea to National and International Covering Organizations of the Young Disciples of Jesus, those are National Association of Evangelicals of the United States of America (NAE) and World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), to launch Evangelical Enquiry Committee (EEC) to investigate the name and the person of the said Major Makoto Yamaya to clarify the discredit.

In a case those NAE and WEA deny or decline to launch the EEC, then, the said Major Makoto Yamaya will invite Christian Leaders in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Australia, Canada and United States of America to form International Enquiry Committee (INEC) to investigate the name and the person of the said Major Makoto Yamaya to clarify the discredit.

Thank you.

May God bless you as you are honest to God.

A Summary Of Recent Situation In Hong Kong By "Hin"

All Quotation From Christian Times:

I found that many have contributed a lot of good points in the issue about GH(The Gospel Herald) but I really encouraged that for those who are new to this, try to go to the SPECIAL LINK that CT(Christian Times) has provided and read through all the articles and reports.

N.B. Please be noted that a Davidian Media in Japan, "Christiantoday" is sometimes abbreviated as "CT". However, on Mr.Hin's context, "CT" indicates always an abbreviation of Hong Kong Christian Media "Christian Times", which is totally different from Davidian Group.

From last year, the relationship between YD(Young Disciples of Jesus), GH, Olivet university and David Jang was exposed and then the investigation began.

In the last few months, GH has tried to attack and criticize different individuals for their motivation and approaches such as the Yeungs, Yamaya, Rev. Lo, Rev. Wang. They also condemned organizations such as CT and put "business competition" as their motive.

During the last few months, all the advisors are gone, either by resigning or due to the dissolving of the board. It has been almost two months and not one advisor is willing to return to the board. Eventhough GH continue to claim that they don't teach those doctrines that many claimed they do but it seems that it is not helping at all. Edward and others are still trying very hard to get the advisors back without success.

There are so many unsolved questions and many of them are pointing toward their integrity and honesty. If they don't have the basic integrity and honesty, it is hard for others and the public to believe what they claimed. The integrity issue are reflected in many occasions and incidents, Frank Graham and monthly hits are only two of them. Twisting the meaning and result of different reports and meetings are another and we can see how they respond to 525(Heresy Seminar held on May 25 at North Point Alliance Church, HK) or earlier to the meeting between them and Rev. Wang. Changing names, hiding their relationship with David Jang are another. If David Jang is their founder (or key supporter) and if he has a good standing with WEA, for any new organization, they should use him as much as they could just like they are using many advisors as their reference. But, they never put David's name anywhere and pretend there is no connection until found out by the IEC.

The way they reacted to the IEC(Independent Enquiry Committee which found out Heretical Nature of Davidian), the way they refused to remove churches and organizations ad from their webpage even being requested for many many times are more examples. The way they get into the 525 meetings (eventhough it is YD members but YD and GH are closely connected) is another.

All these are pointing against their integrity and honesty. It is really hard for myself at least to believe what they claimed.

Then we looked the other side, why are these pastors, churches and organizations doing what they are doing. They seems to be different groups, why are they saying the same thing. Don't give me the conspiracy theory about jealousy and business competition.

Then we looked at the church history in the last few decades, is there anything similar to this? Why is this happening? Is it just pure speculation?

It is really interesting!
